Una Semana Muy Interesante (Semana 22)

Well this week just flew by just like the others and I don't really have enough time to talk about everything but I'll just try my best...
We have been working pretty hard here and Elder Delcid and I are exhausted like every night but it is so fun!! This week we have also been seeing some awesome milagros which is amazing!  So the first thing I want to talk about is my dude Evan! So we usually go with him to church in a taxi or walk with him. This week we couldn't go with them and our telefono es bien chafa, which means we couldn't call anyone (another story for another time) (oh and chafa is like off brand or bad). So he was just gonna stay at his home but people from the ward showed up at his house to pick him up and take him! They also all gave him some ties which is super awesome!!
Second awesome thing that happened this week was we found an awesome family that is super cool and has listened a little to our message and they want to know more! It is a family with a mom and a dad and 4 girls and get this, they all play American football hahaha. It's really cool because we get to talk about something I actually know about.
The last really amazing thing that happened this week was a reference we got. So this reference we have been trying to contact for like 2 weeks straight and we were just about to give up on it. Then one night we had a little extra time so we were like "yo fam we got time, lets go one more time to see and ya if not we got to move on". So we went knocked and the mom answered the door. She was like "Have y’all eaten dinner yet? Are you thirsty? Do you want food? Come sit down for a bit a take a break cause y'all have probably been walking a bunch today."  Elder Delcid and I were really REALLY confused but we walked in and she straight up gave us food and we talked a bit . Turns out she has a bunch of Mormon friends and actually has some in the ward we go to! We have taught a few lessons and they are so cool!! I will keep you updated next week!
I just want to leave y'all with a really cool talk as an assignment. I studied it one night cause I was bored but it helped me a lot. It's called "Living in a Fast-Paced World". When everything starts seeming to be getting hard or out of control we just need to slow down and focus on the important things in our life. Here in the mission there are times when it just seems way too hard but we must slow down and refocus on what matters most!

El Mejor Semana de Mi Mision (Semana 21)

All the missionaries con Evan y Dylan (other person who was baptized)
Well this week was one of the best weeks of mi misión!!!
So this week we have been out here grindin' and workin'!! And we got some really amazing and cool news!! AND Evan was baptized!!!
For starters Elder Delcid and I have been working pretty hard this past week. Trying to find new people and have a lot of lessons. We have had quite a bit of success this week too! We have been teaching Carlos and Jennifer this week along with Jennifer's mom. They are super chill and funny and actually know quite a bit about our religion and love our standards. De hecho Carlos has had a pretty rough life, he was in a couple of gangs and still has to, as he says, "carry protection" because of his past. He really wants to change his life and has been reading the Book of Mormon and he says he is finding so much more peace reading the word of God. They are a really good family and they really like us coming because they say they like the feeling they feel when we are there!
So the cool news that we recieved is that President Dallin H. Oaks is coming to the Mision on Feb. 24 and Reynosa Mision is gonna come!! It will be really cool cause I will get to see my dude Elder Sam Rodriguez! I am really really excited for that!!

AND Finally this week was the baptism de Evan!!! It was so amazing and the spirit was so strong there!! Afterwards he told me that he felt really peaceful and also he felt "dope". He is such an awesome youth and he has so much potencial!!

Only want to share something that I studied a bit this week from this past General Conference. In a talk by Pres. Uchtdorf called "Portadores de Luz Celestial" he talks about the light of Christ. I just want to share a quote that I really liked from the talk.
"La luz de Cristo infunde esperanza y felicidad, y produce sanación de toda herida o enfermedad espiritual. Quienes experimentan esta influencia refinadora se convierten en instrumentos en las manos de la Luz del mundo para llevar luz a los demás"
The Light of Christ brings hope and happiness!! When we feel this light in our own lives we are converted into instruments to bring this light to others!!

Well thats all the time I have today!!
talk to y'all next week!!

Fuimos a La Silla!!! Casi. (Semana 20)

We Went to the Chair!! Almost.
What’s up everyone!?!?!
Well this week just flew by and I really can't remember anything, but I am doing pretty great!
This week we have been teaching a bunch of people! Its so awesome being able to meet so many new people and teach them about the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
We had a few lessons with Norma and her familia and also with Evan, our friend from Texas! We also had intercambios this week with Elder Piña y Elder Chavez. Elder Chavez came with me since he is new and let me tell you this man is crazy and so funny. We had a really great time and we actually got a lot of stuff done!
Today for P-Day we went to the mountains and it was super fun! We hiked almost all the way to the top and it completely wore us out but totally worth it! We then went to the church and made hamburguesas and salchichas and had a great time!
I just want to share two stories from this week. It's so important that you follow the promptings of the Spirit, especially when you are on a mission. Ok so the first happened earlier this week. Elder Delcid and I were walking in a park that was a little sketchy and it was pretty dark. I felt like we should just go back but I didn’t know why. We kept walking a bit and I saw legit 3 stop signs just like randomly in the street…like one painted on a fence, other on a house, then one on the ground. I was like yeah we better go. We then went back to a lighter area and right when we got there we saw 3 police trucks speed past us to where we were walking. We don't know what happened but we were safe.
The second was that on Saturday night I had the thought to go visit a family. We went there but nobody was home. So we started walking a bit then ran into a person that we talked to a long time ago. We talked for a bit and it turns out that his life is a little dificil right now and that he needed us to come over and talk to him and help him and his wife through this trial.
It is really awesome being on the mission and knowing that someone will always be with you helping you. Heavenly Father will never leave us solo and He will always send help when we need it!

Well that’s all the time I have today!
Talk to ya next week!!

Semana Uno Con Mi Chapulin (Semana 19)

Pues esta semana fue interesante!!
Well this week was interesting!! So to start off I said bye to Elder Diaz this past Tuesday and he went on his way to Apodaca, like an hour and a half away from me. I then had to take an Uber (because we have connections) to the offices which was like an hour of being able to be alone without a compañero which was really strange la verdad. So I got to the office and had some training since I was going to be training a new missionary. It was really strange because all the other trainers have like 15 months or more, and I have a solid 4 haha. I then met my new compañero, Elder Delcid. He is a pretty cool dude from New York. His familia is from Honduras so he can speak Español which is a blessing for me haha.  We then went back to the house and went straight to work. It's really different being a trainer because I have to do everything. I have to talk to everyone and teach every lesson almost completely by myself while mi compañero is learning.
So this week I have been helping Elder Delcid get the hang of things in the mission. We did a lot of walking and contacting to help him get familiar with our area. It has been kinda hard this week with people and investigadores still out of town for vacations. We had some pretty awesome lessons this week though that have helped mi new compañero feel at home. We had a Noche de Hogar with the Garcia familia and it was so awesome. It was El Dia de los Reyes so we ate some really tasty meat and pasta and mashed potatoes and we had a King Cake!!! Inside this cake there is a baby and if you get the baby in your piece you have to make tamales for everyone. Luckily Hna Garcia got the baby so next time we go we will be eating some bien rico tamales!
We also started teaching Norma and her family this week. She is actually really really cool and even though she is a mom of 4 she acts like a joven with us haha. Her kids are really cool! We talk about american music so they are super fun! So they have listened to missionaries before but they moved and nobody knew where they moved to. Then one day they just showed up to the church and they asked when we could come over to teach them! It was actually really an amazing and dope experience!
This week I have some pretty awesome things that have happened to me. So the first is that I have been carrying candy around in my bag for the kids because I love kids and we speak the same amount of Spanish haha. All the kids here know the big white dude that has candy! The other thing is that we were talking to an hermana at her house and then after we said goodbye to her all of the sudden the dog next door jumped over the fence and started chasing us. Elder Delcid just took off running so I had to follow him. We sprinted like half the street before the dog finally stopped. It was so funny la verdad.
Ok before I leave I just one last thing to say. Something that I have learned from training a newbie is that you have to trust the Lord....A LOT: Like it says in Proverbios 3:5-6 "Confía en Jehová con todo tu corazón, y no te apoyes en tu propia prudencia. Reconócelo en todos tus caminos, y él enderezará tus veredas."
We need to trust in the Lord with all of our heart and He will direct our paths!

Well that's all this week

Christmas Call

Feliz 2018!!! (Semana 18)

Feliz Año Nuevo mis Amigos!!!
talkin with the fam
I hope that all is well and everyone had a great night of partying and celebrating the beginning of the new year!!
Here the streets were ringing out with fireworks until like 2AM.  We had cambios last night that start tomorrow and its gonna be interesante for Elder Diaz y yo.  He is going to another Zone, Apodaca, as the Zone Leader, and I have the opportunity to train a new missionary, which is usually for the more experienced missionaries, so it’s gonna be a really interesting thing since I only have 4 months in the mission. I find out who my companion is tomorrow!
A lot has happened in the past 2 weeks but I have no clue what to say. First we had an activity in the mercadito here in our area with a little stand and we gave out cookies and popcorn for Navidad. It was so cool and we all had such a great and fun time as a district. Then on Navidad we had such a great day! We went around to familias to sing Christmas hymns and then had a great carne asada with the familia Garcia!
On Navidad we had the chance to talk to our families so that was so so so so awesome!!! We went to the mall that day, bought some cool stuff then went to a members house to talk with our familias! It was great to hear their voices!
This week was a pretty great week we had intercambios with one of my favorite missionaries here in our district, Elder Muciño! We were on bicis the whole day and we put in a lot of work! We also had divisions in their area, where mi comp y yo go to their area to help them out because their area is so huge!!! It was so cool to work in their area. We went to this one street and the first lady that saw us invited us to come in and have some hot chocolate and talk to her. It was so cool because she just wanted to talk to us because we are jóvenes and she wanted to talk about God and about the Bible.
Today was actually one of the best days ever. We spent it with our district since 4 of the 6 of us are going be transferred. We went to the mall for a bit then went to a members house. We ate menudo (which is a soup of pig stomach and intestine...not that good) and had a tie gift exchange. We also had to take a taxi to their house. And when I say a taxi I mean ONE taxi...for the 6 of us. It was literally like a clown car. Five of us were in the back seat and one was up front. Definitely illegal but super fun -hahaha.
Well I promise I will have more next week!!
Espero que todos de ustedes estén bien!!
