trabajando como loco (semana 39)

Hey Hey Hey!! Whats up y’all?!?! How’s everyone been doing?? Vacations are starting up!! Woohoo!! Well for y’all back home at least. Here we’ve been working hard and killin’ the game out here in Santa Rosa. The mission is so fun!! Definitely the best!
This past week we have been working like normal except it went by hecka fast. We started the week with intercambios. I stayed here in the area with elder Muy, a dope dude from Guatemala who goes home in 3 weeks. We had a pretty great day. We taught a bunch of people and had fun. We ended the day with some really delicious hamburgers from Pepe’s Burgers. Also this week we found a super awesome family from Tabasco. They are pretty cool and we are starting to teach them. This week they were able to go to church with us so that was amazing! So I’ll keep y’all updated with them.
On Friday we had intercambios with the zone leaders and it was super lit. I went to metroplex with my dude elder Taylor from Colorado. Let’s just say 2 gueros in mexico is pretty lit. We talked straight English in the street and everyone was super confused. We got a bunch of people to yell some groserías at us too (both in English and Spanish). It was pretty funny when they tried to say stuff in English to us because their English was pretty bad and we barely understood jajaja. Overall we had a pretty great day, mostly because I could speak English, I haven’t talked so much ingles in like 4 months jaja.
This week we had 2 pretty scary moments. The first was when we got stopped by some narcos. It wasn’t really scary and they didn’t want anything to do with us, they actually told us to go back so that we´d be safer just in case. The other scary part was like 5x scarier. We had to explain to the Relief Society (the sisters) of the ward about the new rules when it comes to food and meals and we were attacked jajaja. The best part was that the Bishop (dope dude) was like “I’ll let y’all explain it because I don’t want to get hit” and he just sat in the back of the room laughing. So yeah that might have been the scariest part of the mission, talking about rules with the hermanas and being attacked jajaja.
So that was my week y’all!! Solo quiero dejar una escritura bien padre, DyC 6:36, “Look unto Christ in every thought. Doubt not. Fear not.”
Love y’all bunches!! ¡Siga echándole los kilos!!

Carta (Semana 38)

QUE TAL?? What’s up y’all?? How’s everyone doing?? Out here in Monterrey its heating up! Both the work and the temps!
So this past week was super dope. We have been working and having a bunch of fun. We started off the week with a Zone Conference which was pretty fun. We talked a lot about the Book of Mormon and how important a single verse can be. The power of the scriptures is so real and you can find so much help in them. (https://youtu.be/1oRQdETbXbo - dope video)
This week we also had a dope week of working out, getting that grind on every night!! We out here killing the game jajaja. Nah, but for real we are getting hecka fit.
Ok back to the real stuff. The real awesome parts of the week were on Saturday and Sunday. Ok I’ll start with Sunday. On Sunday we received a phone call from a lady named Perla. She called us and had asked us to come visit her in the afternoon. So we headed over and she invited us in and gave us some Coca-Cola and cookies and asked us to teach her and help her change her life. She told us this is where she is supposed to be and asked us about baptism and when she can be baptized. It was so awesome and the Spirit was so so strong!
And finally on Saturday I had one of the best days ever! Saturday we had the baptism of Richie and Alberto!! It was so awesome and they were so happy! It was one of the most amazing experiences ever! Then after the baptism we went to the Sanchez house for a fiesta with Richie, la familia Sanchez, Johnny Divildox, la familia Vital and us the missionaries. We had a carne asada with cake and pie and just a great time celebrating Richie’s baptism. I love la Familia Sanchez and Richie!! The Mission is so awesome!!!
I only want to leave y’all with an awesome scripture that I read this past week in the Book of Mormon. It’s in Ether chapter 12 verse 4 and it says
“Wherefore, whoso believeth in God might with surety hope for a better world, yea, even a place at the right hand of God, which hope cometh of faith, maketh an anchor to the souls of men, which would make them sure and steadfast, always abounding in good works, being led to glorify God.”
Well that’s all I got today! Love yall! Have a great week! Go forward with faith and always abound in good works!!

FELIZ DIA DE MADRE (Semana 37)

¡FELIZ DIA DE MADRE!
Happy Mother’s Day Mom!!! I Love You Bunches!!
So how’s everyone been doing lately?? Hope everyone has been having a great time!! Here in Mexico I am having a ton of fun too! This past week has been one of the best weeks in the mission! It started off with the cambios. Elder Perez went home on Tuesday and Elder Guerrero came from Juarez to be my companion. So we started off going to lessons and getting to know the people here in Santa Rosa. Then on Wednesday I had to go to the offices because I am a new District Leader to be trained on what I need to do. We were there in the offices from like 9 in the morning till like 4 in the afternoon…it was so so long jajaja. We then got back to the area at like 6, had to go to the comida, then visited a few people, la verdad it was a pretty long boring day.
Thursday was one of the best days!! We started with a district meeting where I had to give my first training…for an hour and a half…en Español. It actually turned out pretty great which was surprising jajaja. We then went looking for people to visit and we found the kids of an investigador playing futbol en the street so we played with them for a while and that was a pretty fun time! We lost 5-4 but it was totally awesome (btw I’m not too bad a futbol now). We then had a lesson with Richie and la familia Sanchez. It was a pretty powerful lesson about following Christ and he is really excited for His baptism this next week!! Also this day was Dia de Madre here in Mexico so we celebrated with the Hermana Estrella Sanchez with really delicious pombazos (torta like things for Mexico City) and some awesome Milky Way Cake! This family is one of the best families I have met on the Mission!!
Friday and Saturday were both pretty chill. We met with Richie and Osvaldo to talk about their baptisms this next week. They are both super ready and excited! We also practiced for the choir for Sunday. On Sunday we got to be part of the Choir because it was a Conference. It was pretty awesome and we got matching ties from it jajaja. I also like singing, I think I’ll be in ward choir when I go home…. maybe jaja. Ok also on Sunday this one Hermana told us that her son wants to be baptized this Saturday and that we need to help make it possible. So this next week we are gonna be really focused on 3 baptisms which is pretty awesome! After church we went to comida with la Familia Sanchez and we ate some really good cochinito (really good meal from Yucatan, Mexico) and Richie made us some Carne Asada. It was a full out Fiesta with the four missionaries, Sanchez family, Vital family, and Richie.
Finally, the best thing about this week was last night when I got to talk to my family!!! It was so good seeing them and being able to talk to them for a while! It was the best thing ever!! My family is the best!! Love them so so much!!
The last thing I want to share is a scripture I really liked from this week from studying. It is in 3 Nephi when Jesus Christ is teaching the Nephites. In chapter 27 and in verse 27 Jesus says “Por lo tanto ¿qué clase de hombres habéis de ser? En verdad os digo, aun como yo soy.” (Therefore, what manner of men ought ye to be? Verily I say unto you, even as I am.)  Jesus invites us to be like Him. He was perfect. He loved everyone. He served everyone. He forgave those that did wrong to him. He did good in every moment. He is our perfect example. His invitation for us is to do the same. Do what he did. That is my invitation for y'all today. To be like Christ.

Feliz Cinco de Mayo!! (Semana 36)

HOLA HOLA HOLA!!!
RICHIE
Just gotta wish everyone a happy late 5 de Mayo!!! Hope everyone had a great day celebrating with tacos and chips and salsa because here in Mexico we don't celebrate it  all - jajaja. We didn't do anything. It actually isn't a real holiday here jaja. America just had to have a reason to eat tacos so they stole it from Mexico, and I don't blame them 'cause tacos are the BEST!
This past week we have been working super hard and doing our best as usual. Elder Perez is one great missionary and I am so glad I got to be his last companion. He goes home tomorrow and he has really helped me a lot.  We actually got transfer calls last night and I am going to be companions with my dude Elder Guerrero and I'm will be a district leader. So this will be interesting.
This week we had one of the coolest things ever happen. Hard work and obediencia pay off y'all! Ok so there is a really awesome family in the  ward, la familia Sanchez. On sunday of last week they brought a friend to church who is super cool.  His name is Richie. We started to talk with him and then all of the sudden he asked us when he could be baptized! He is such an awesome dude and is really loving the Church. He is planning to be baptized in a couple of weeks and is super excited!!
This past week we also had divisions a few times to help the other area find people to teach and then with Elder Duran because my companion had to go to the office to get ready to go home. The divisions were pretty fun and we did a bunch of work and finished with some ice cream jajaja.
The last cool thing that we did was on Thursday.  We had a great activity to celebrate Mothers day and Kids day. We brought a bunch of investigadores and less active members and it was a super fun night. The men all made tacos for the moms and chilidogs for the kids.  We helped serve and were able to share a message. I love being a missionary especially here in Santa Rosa. This ward is so awesome and I just love being here!

Final thought - In my studies this past week I was reading in the Book of Mormon and I found one of my favorite verses, Its in Alma 36:3
“Whosoever shall put their trust in God shall be supported in their trials, and their troubles, and their afflictions, and shall be lifted up at the last day.”

Well thats all I got folks...

I hope everyone has a great week!!
